Local forecasts are based on weather forecasts produced by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, ECMWF and the Danish Meteorological Institute, DMI. At the Icelandic Meteorological Office, automatic statistical methods are used to localise such forecasts.

Weather outlook
Southeasterly and easterly winds 18-28 m/s in the morning, strongest in the southwest. Considerable snow or sleet, especially in the southeast and east, but occational showers in the south and west in the afternoon. Lighter winds and less precipitation in the northeast parts. Becoming southerly 8-15 m/s after noon with showers of sleet, but east gale and snow in the north and east part into the evening. Becoming milder with temperatures around or above freezing later in the day.
Variable winds 5-13 around noon tomorrow and snow or snow showers, but less precipitation in the south. North and northwest 15-23 in the west and becoming colder there in the afternoon, but increasing winds in the east tomorrow evening. Temperature around or above freezing in the east.

Weather forecast for the next several days
On Friday:
Variable wind 3-10 m/s and showers of snow or sleet, but northeast 15-23 m/s with snow in the northwest part. Temperature near freezing point. North and northwest 13-20 m/s with snowshowers or snow by evening, but mainly dry in the southern part. Becoming colder.
On Saturday:
Variable wind 3-8 m/s and partly fair, but northwest 15-23 m/s and snow in the east until noon. Frost 1 to 8 degrees C. Becoming southeast 15-23 m/s in the south and west parts in the afternoon with snow or sleet and warming weather.
On Sunday:
Variable wind 8-15 m/s with snow, but showers of snow or sleet in the south. Temperature near freezing point.
On Monday:
Southwesterly wind and snowshowers, but mostly dry in the eastern part. Similar temperature.
On Tuesday:
Westerly wind and snowshowers, but fair in the east. Generally light frost.
On Wednesday:
Southerly wind and widely light snowshowers.
